GST MI Works! Partnership Success!

Rachel Lamoureux is an Adult participant from the Greater Flint Health Coalition’s Flint Healthcare Employment Opportunities (FHEO) Program, a GST Michigan Works! Service Provider. Mrs. Lamoureux had recently moved to Michigan from Colorado and looking for a career change after working as a beautician for 20 years. She decided that healthcare would be a match for her extensive customer service skills and attended an Information Session after being referred by a local training institution.

Mrs. Lamoureux was accepted into the FHEO Program and entered into Professional Life Skills and Healthcare Career Exploration training after successfully completing the recruitment process. During this time, Mrs. Lamoureux chose to pursue Phlebotomy training at Mott Community College. Of her training experience, Mrs. Lamoureux stated that “I loved my training and I had the best instructor.” Mrs. Lamoureux worked diligently during her training and graduated with her Phlebotomy Certificate in December 2018.

Mrs. Lamoureux gained employment just a few weeks after graduation at the American Red Cross as a Phlebotomist. Mrs. Lamoureux shared that she loves the team she works with and enjoys using her phlebotomy skills at a new location every day. When asked what contributed to her success in a career in healthcare, Mrs. Lamoureux shared that the support from her family and staff members she met along her journey helped her reach her goals.
