Career Coach Success Finds Local Jobseeker A Career!

Flint – Sherrema Bower was referred to GST Michigan Works! upon returning to her hometown of Flint from out-of-state. Seeking full-time employment, Sherrema met with her Career Coach, Angel Lane, for assistance in finding full-time employment. Angel was immediately impressed by Sherrema’s resume, including a superior work history with experience lecturing in multiple countries as well as grant writing. Angel provided Sherrema with job leads and before long, Sherrema had an interview with the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. Angel worked with Ms. Bower on interviewing techniques and tips when accepting a job offer. Shortly after Sherrema contacted Angel with excitement stating she was extended an offer of employment as Grants Specialist. Angel was as excited as Sherrema, especially knowing what an exceptional customer she was to work with, being very receptive to any suggestions the Career Coach made.Ms. Bower stated, “I greatly appreciated the GST Michigan Works! I signed up with the program and upon being selected for a full-time grant writing position at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce (FGCC), I received the GST Michigan Works! wardrobe and auto repair stipends, as well as mileage reimbursement for the first four weeks on my new job. These were an enormous help! The wardrobe stipend provided me with a professional new look that allowed me to start my new job with confidence.
