Wesley Ulmer visited Career Services seeking approval for a CDL training scholarship. He had over 10 years of employment experience in various industries but desired a CDL-A endorsement for career advancement with a trucking company.
With the guidance of his Career Coach, Kim Streeter, Wesley received the necessary pre-employment services and assistance, including resume updating and developing short and long term career goals. Wesley was very easy going and complied with any tasks assigned to him. He was approved for a training scholarship and began classes at 160 Driving Academy in April 2019.
Wesley excelled in his training program. Megan Stewart, 160 Driving Academy Branch Manager, noted: “Wesley was a very fast learner. He was eager to succeed and it was obvious. He made our jobs easier and he was always easy to work with. He graduated from our program very quickly and we would be happy to refer him to any employer that he would consider in the future”. Wesley’s training was completed on May 3, 2019.
Wesley continued to receive post-training support from both 160 Driving Academy and Career Services with his job search. On June 17, 2019, Wesley landed a full-time job with Sudbury Express as a Driver. Congratulations to Wesley and Career Services will continue to provide the necessary support for him to be successful in his new career!
