Lapeer - Lapeer Plating + Plastics Inc. specializes in injection molding, chrome plating and assembly of highly decorative plastic and chrome plated automotive components. They are located in Lapeer and employ just under 200 full-time team members. The two greatest training needs LP+P identified were Supervisor and Lean Manufacturing. In addition to their massive costs of not having a Lean operation, their most significant loss was missing out on new sales opportunities because of the lack of this training.

Company leaders expressed that Lean and Supervisor training would allow them to improve operations and costs to win new business. LP+P also expressed a great need to hire new employees to meet customer demand. Their goal is to develop more productive operations and attract/retain employees to grow their workforce. Providing supervisors with Lean Manufacturing and Supervisory training is their strategic goal to resolve employee retention issues. GST Michigan Works! worked closely with LP+P, encouraging and assisting them with their FY21 Going PRO Talent Fund Application and Training Plan. Despite negative Covid-19 impacts and challenges, LP+P trained a total of 21 individuals and utilized nearly all their award.
