Thankful for the Assistance!

Huron County – Valerie came to GST Michigan Works! in Huron County looking for a change. She has worked as a Certified Nurse Aide since her certification in 2006.  She still loved health care and helping people in need; however, being a CNA is hard work and can take a toll.

Valerie wanted to stay in the medical field but work in a slightly different capacity. She wanted to attend a Certified Medical Assistant course but couldn’t afford the training on her own. She became eligible for funding through the WIOA Program and decided to attend classes at the Sanilac Career Center. She jumped in feet first and loved the training. Valerie didn’t miss a class and loved her instructor. She especially enjoyed the phlebotomy aspect of the training and excelled in this course. She completed the class and went on to pass the National Healthcare Association Exam.

She started working at Pro-Health Urgent Care in Sandusky as a Certified Medical Assistant.  She enjoys her new job very much and is extremely thankful for the assistance and support.

“GST Michigan Works! made it possible for me to go back to school.  I don’t feel I had any struggles as I always had supportive people, whether it be Michigan Works or my Instructor.  I am very thankful that Michigan Works invested in me to make this possible and for so many other people wanting to come into the medical field to make it possible for them as well; it is such a great program. I can’t thank you enough, Michigan Works! and a very special Thank you to Marcie for going above and beyond.  You have left an ever-lasting impression on me,” said Valerie.
