From Setback to Triumph

Mary was laid off from her previous job and came to GST Michigan Works! seeking unemployment assistance. During her visit, she also expressed a desire to pursue her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. However, Mary faced a challenge: she had a learning disability that made school particularly difficult for her. Despite the hurdles, Mary was determined to succeed, and with support, she excelled in her studies.

GST Michigan Works! provided valuable assistance, covering her tuition, as well as providing scrubs and shoes for her training. Most importantly, Mary received constant encouragement, which gave her the confidence she needed to push through the tough moments.

Her hard work paid off when she earned her CNA certification and secured a full-time position at the Tuscola Medical Care Facility. Today, Mary is thriving in her new career and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she cares for.
