From Student to Child Care Worker

Erica first connected with GST Michigan Works! through the Family Literacy program to work toward completing her GED. She remained dedicated and determined throughout the process, meeting all requirements and successfully earning her GED.

While she was completing her education, Erica was invited to participate in the Young Professionals program. Knowing that she had always dreamed of working with children, GST Michigan Works! arranged an interview for her at Auntie Em’s Daycare. Erica was hired immediately, and she has been a valued team member ever since. The children adore her, Erica found her calling, and her employment in this field helps to answer the need for additional childcare availability across the region!  

Through the support of GST Michigan Works! programs, Erica not only achieved her educational goals but also completed her work experience successfully creating a positive impact for both herself, her employer, and the parents of the little ones now in her care.
