Perfect Timing

While attending LPN training at SC4, Mason discovered GST Michigan Works! scholarships that she might qualify for, which sparked her interest. In her final semester, balancing part-time work as a CNA and focusing on her studies, Mason faced several financial challenges, including NCLEX test fees, mileage costs, and necessary truck repairs. After filling out a request form on the GST Michigan Works! website, Career Coach Cindy quickly reached out to determine if Mason qualified for funding.

With financial assistance confirmed, Mason received support to cover gas mileage and NCLEX fees. Additionally, GST Michigan Works! helped Mason get her truck repaired, enabling her to continue her studies without further setbacks. She graduated with honors, earning Cum Laude status and joining the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Mason’s employer, Medilodge of Yale, offered great encouragement throughout her clinicals and training. After passing the NCLEX, Mason was hired as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Her new role brought a significant wage increase, more than doubling her previous hourly rate as a CNA!
