GPTF Training Builds a Stronger, More Cohesive Team at LP&P

Through the support of the Going PRO Talent Fund, Lapeer Plating & Plastics (LP&P) was able to provide 8D Problem Solving and Setup Time Reduction training for 31 employees, with a goal of building a more connected, skilled workforce. One of the company’s main challenges had been helping employees understand how their roles contribute to the overall success and cost-efficiency of the business.

The training focused on developing individual ownership of tasks while highlighting the bigger picture of operational efficiency and cost reduction. As a result, employees gained not only technical knowledge but also the confidence needed to grow in their roles, leading to improved retention, better product quality, and consistent performance across teams.

“We’re already witnessing a remarkable transformation in how our team operates and applies their newly acquired skills,” said Joe DuBreuil, Human Resources Manager. “Our supervisors have become more confident and efficient, which has not only bolstered our retention efforts but also enabled us to attract additional talent. With a streamlined operations system, we’ve successfully secured more new business, ensuring that both jobs and products remain rooted in Michigan.”

LP&P identified team building as one of the most valuable outcomes of the training and a key lesson for future workforce development.
