Building a Bright Future Through On-the-Job Training
At just 19 years old, Chris walked through the doors of Curbco in search of an opportunity to prove himself. Eager to begin a career in the company’s Landscape and Lawn Division, Chris expressed a strong interest in working with his hands and being outdoors.
Recognizing his potential, Curbco also understood that Chris would need guidance and training to be successful in his new role. Through a partnership with GST Michigan Works! the company was able to establish an On-the-Job Training (OJT) plan tailored to help Chris gain essential workplace skills while earning valuable experience.
Before joining Curbco, Chris had never held a full-time job. With the additional supportive services provided by GST Michigan Works!, he received the encouragement and resources needed to thrive. Chris completed a 160-hour OJT program, where he quickly made a positive impression on his team. His employer shared that Chris “fit right in with the crew from day one” and consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
Through his determination and the structured support of the OJT program, Chris not only completed his training successfully but also achieved retention, solidifying his role as a valued member of the Curbco team.
