Dominic’s Path to a Manufacturing Career

Dominic’s Path to a Manufacturing Career

At 18 years old, Dominic knew he was interested in a career in manufacturing. He was originally working at McDonald’s, making $15 per hour. Although he was not eligible for youth services, he qualified for Adult and GEM funding. When an exciting opportunity became available through the FANUC training program at Lapeer High School, Dominic was eager to take advantage of it.

Through the program, Dominic earned his FANUC Handling Tool Robotic Programming and Operations Certification, as well as his FANUC IRVision Certification. He quickly developed a passion for the coursework and greatly enjoyed learning from his instructor, Mr. Dayonte Grimes, whose knowledge and support helped him succeed.

With the skills and certifications he gained, and with assistance from Mr. Grimes, Dominic secured employment with 3 Dimensional in Lapeer, Michigan. Today, he is working in the manufacturing industry and has received a significant increase in pay from his previous position. Dominic’s dedication, combined with specialized training and strong instructor support and mentoring, helped turn his interest in manufacturing into a successful career opportunity.
