GST Michigan Works! Secures $1.1M through the Going PRO Talent Fund
Eighteen employers in the GST Michigan Works! region have secured $1,103,470 million in Going PRO awards for the FY25 Cycle 2 period. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) invests in Going PRO Talent Fund grants to employers through Michigan’s workforce system, which involves a very competitive application process.
The Going PRO Talent Fund is designed to assist employers in training, developing, and retaining current and newly hired employees. Training courses are typically short-term and fill a demonstrated training need identified by the employer. Training must lead to a credential for a transferable skill recognized by industry.
“GST Michigan Works! is excited to announce the award of $1.1 million in FY25 Cycle 2 funding, in addition to the $3.7 million received in Cycle 1 earlier this year. The Going PRO Talent Fund will help local businesses train and retain their workforce, strengthening our regional economy. A total of 76 employers in our region will now be able to train both incumbent and newly hired employees.” – Cindy Thornthwaite, Director of Business Services.
