Allie Advances Her Nursing Career with GST Michigan Works! Support

Allie came to the GST Michigan Works! Sanilac Service Center seeking support to advance her nursing career. After several years working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she began to feel limited by the roles available to her and the lack of upward mobility. As a mother of two young children, Allie was motivated to expand her opportunities and create a more stable future for her family.

She was accepted into the LPN to ADN (associate degree in nursing) program at St. Clair County Community College (SC4), which would allow her to become a Registered Nurse (RN) and significantly broaden her career options. GST Michigan Works! provided tuition assistance, easing the financial burden of attending school full-time.

During her time in the program, Allie decided to move closer to both work and school—an added challenge she met with determination. Despite the demands of school and the stress of relocating, she successfully maintained her academic performance and graduated Cum Laude.

Allie is now employed as a Registered Nurse at McLaren Macomb and received a 28% wage increase upon entering her new role. She expressed deep appreciation for the sponsorship and the continued encouragement she received from her case manager throughout her journey.
