Vidon Plastics Reduces Scrap and Downtime Through Going PRO Training

One of the biggest challenges Vidon Plastics faced was reducing scrap and downtime to increase overall efficiency. With support from the Going PRO Talent Fund, the company was able to deliver targeted training to employees at all levels, introducing veteran workers to new methodologies while helping newly hired staff build hard skills in extrusion efficiency.

Thanks to the on-site training provided by Baker College, Vidon was able to train across shifts without disrupting production. In total, 44 employees participated, including 11 new employees, representing nearly half of the company’s workforce.

The impact was immediate. Training sessions reshaped how Vidon views its supply chain and helped optimize inventory levels. As a result, the company has seen a measurable reduction in scrap and waste.

One employee who attended the Root Cause Analysis class shared, “The Class was well balanced between lecture and activities. The trainer provided different methods, which allowed us to learn several approaches.”

While training takes time and planning, the return in efficiency and cost savings has proven invaluable, solidifying Vidon’s commitment to continuous improvement and workforce development.
