Memorial Healthcare Builds Talent Through Strategic Partnership with GSTMW!
For more than a century, Memorial Healthcare System has served as a cornerstone of care in Shiawassee County. As the county’s largest employer, Memorial continues to grow—not only expanding its facilities, but also its reach well beyond the region. With that growth comes a constant demand for qualified staff across a wide variety of departments, from dietary and housekeeping to maintenance and medical assisting.
In a fast-paced healthcare environment, proper training is essential. Whether onboarding new talent in clinical or support roles, there are detailed procedures and protocols that must be mastered before team members are fully up to speed. That learning curve, while critical to quality care, can also come with added costs.
To help address this challenge, Memorial Healthcare System has developed a strong and proactive partnership with GST Michigan Works!. By tapping into workforce programs such as the Going PRO Talent Fund, Paid Youth Work Experience, and the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program, Memorial is able to tailor training support to the unique needs of each position—while also offsetting onboarding costs.
Over the past year, five customized OJT training plans were implemented in key areas, including medical assisting, billing, lab, and medical office administration. These plans helped new employees build the skills they needed to succeed, while helping Memorial maintain high standards of service. In total, GST Michigan Works! provided $10,387.20 in funding to support this essential training.
This partnership exemplifies how employer collaboration and workforce solutions come together to strengthen local talent pipelines, ensuring that quality care continues for generations to come.
