Leveling Up In Healthcare

 

Jenny is a driven and determined young individual from the small town of Sebewaing, Michigan, whose dedication to her education and career has led to remarkable success in the healthcare field. Through hard work, perseverance, and the support of GST Michigan Works! Jenny has transformed her grit into a thriving nursing career.

Jenny began her journey by enrolling in an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Michigan–Flint. While pursuing her education, she took her first step into healthcare by becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). With guidance and assistance from GST Michigan Works! Jenny was able to access training opportunities and supportive resources that helped her enter the workforce in a clinical setting.

Starting as a CNA allowed Jenny to build a strong foundation in patient care while developing confidence and knowledge in her classes. Her determination and work ethic quickly became evident as she balanced demanding academic coursework with real-world experience.

Today, Jenny is employed full-time as a Registered Nurse at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw. Her journey from CNA to RN reflects not only her personal grit and motivation but also the impact that supportive workforce development has on individuals who want to pursue meaningful careers. GST Michigan Works! has had the privilege of working alongside Jenny and witnessing her growth as she “leveled up” in her profession.

Reflecting on her experience, Jenny shared with her career coach, “I am so thankful I was able to get my foot in the door as a CNA, because it opened so many doors for me to receive helpful resources from GST Michigan Works! I am thankful for everyone who supported me along the way.”

Jenny’s story is a powerful example of how determination and education can create lasting career success. There is no doubt that Jenny will continue to shine in her nursing career and serve as an inspiration to others who are working toward their own goals in healthcare.
