Excellence In Youth Leadership
At Owosso High School, senior Lestat is making a lasting impression through his dedication, leadership, and commitment to building a strong future.
Last summer, Lestat took an important step toward his career by enrolling in the Shiawassee RESD Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) summer employment program. Through this opportunity, he was placed in the maintenance department at Memorial Healthcare. From day one, Lestat stood out for his strong work ethic and eagerness to learn. His performance was exceptional, and Memorial Healthcare offered him a position upon the program’s conclusion.
Throughout his senior year, Lestat has successfully balanced the demands of school and work, demonstrating maturity and responsibility. In addition, he took the initiative to start the Owosso High School Construction Trades Club, where he currently serves as president. His leadership has created new opportunities for fellow students interested in the trades.
Lestat’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. He has earned multiple honors, including Owosso High School Student of the Month, a Career Connections Certification from the Carpenters International Training Fund, and the Outstanding Student Achievement Award in Career and Technical Education for Construction Trades at Owosso High School.
Most recently, Lestat was nominated for—and won—the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates Excellence in Youth Leadership Award through Shiawassee RESD. He will be formally recognized at the JMG Annual Career Development Conference at Saginaw Valley State University on April 30. After graduation, Lestat plans to pursue his path in the skilled trades by joining the Carpenters Union, where he will undoubtedly build a strong and successful career.
Congratulations, Lestat, on your achievements and bright future ahead!
