Lapeer District Library

Founded in 1859, the Lapeer District Library continues to service their mission of empowering their communities through resources, education, technology and connection. Our seven locations around Lapeer County serve as community resources, gathering places, and educational hubs.

Information on library services including available materials, computer, Wi-Fi and printer access, early literacy information, and available career services including resume resources, career testing prep (both in-house and online) and more

Human Development Commission

We operate more than 50 programs to meet the needs of people in our communities, especially those struggling financially or needing assistance to become/remain self-sufficient for residents of Lapeer, Tuscola, Huron and Sanilac counties.

Family Literacy Center

The Family Literacy Center is a 501c3 non-profit. We provide free one-to-one tutoring for adults seeking their GED, wanting to improve their reading/math skills, or improve their English as a second language skills. We also provide Jobs for Michigan Graduates, a support program for 18 – 24-year-olds seeking their GED, as well as family programs for children and families. Michigan Rehabilitation Services assists individuals with disabilities to obtain or maintain employment by providing accommodations for those that encounter barriers or limitations in the workplace.

Disability Network Eastern Michigan

DNEM is a Center for Independent Living where we provide services to people of all ages with any disability. We work with people with disabilities to gain skills and access to resources to live successful independent lives. If you are a person with a disability who would benefit from job search related assistance (such as interview skills, job coaching, requesting accommodation, etc.) we can help.

Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates

Jobs for Michigan’s graduates supports youth who have dropped out of school and are seeking their GED. We assist with soft skills, employment services, and workforce readiness. We can also provide assistance for students looking for trade programs, short term trainings, or college educations.

We are more than happy to meet with youth who think they might benefit from our program, or parents of youth who are in need of guidance.
