2018 Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) Awards

 

GST MICHIGAN WORKS! IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE
33 BUSINESSES AWARDED $719,000
THROUGH MICHIGAN’S SKILLED TRADES TRAINING FUND

 

GST Michigan Works! is pleased to announce that thirty-three (33) employers located across Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Shiawassee, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties have been awarded grants totaling $719,283.60 through the Michigan Talent Investment Agency (TIA) Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) for short term, in-demand training.

 

The purpose of the Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) is to enhance talent, productivity and improve employee retention while increasing the quality and competitiveness of Michigan’s Workforce.  Funding is available to employers across various industries and sizes.

 

The businesses awarded range from the Agricultural to Automotive Industries. Magna Electronics, located in Grand Blanc, Michigan was awarded $35,030. Magna Electronics employs over 600 residents in Genesee County. They are the sole manufacturer in the United States and North America for automotive rearview cameras. Robert Brown Dairy Equipment Company in Bad Axe received $7,500 for training their 37 employees in Huron County. They provide 24/7 emergency service, scheduled maintenance, installations, dairy herd supplies and more.

 

H&H Tool in Lapeer was positively impacted by the STTF grant as well. H&H Tool was awarded over $40,000 to assist in training. They are a tier-two automotive supplier of fluid connector blocks and employ 110 staff members. GST Michigan Works! is able to help a variety of businesses, through the Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF), train employees to continue the progress of workforce development in our region.
