Air Time for Cole!

Huron County – Cole was a Junior at Elkton/Pigeon/Bay Port (Laker) High School and was eligible for GST Michigan Works! Summer Youth Employment Program – Young Professionals.  With assistance from the Transition Specialist at the Huron Area Technical Center, he interviewed for a summer job at Thumb Broadcasting (WLEW Radio).  Thumb Broadcasting was interested in partnering with GST and hired Cole through the Young Professional Program – Paid Work Experience. 

Cole worked up to 40 hours each week doing all the jobs asked of him at the radio station.  He performed as an “On-Air” Personality, reading the news, taking phone calls, recording commercials, and writing news stories for their website.  Cole did great at his first job!  He was successful at the station and completed his 60-day work experience. 

Cole has returned to High School and is completing his Senior Year. Will he aspire to be a radio personality? You never know, but we wish him the best!
