Showing The Purpose of Young Professionals

Sanilac County – George graduated from Brown City High School in May of 2023. GST Michigan Works! staff met George at the Sanilac Career Center.  He was interviewed and chosen to be part of the Young Professionals Program because of the work skills he obtained by attending the career center.  He also appeared to have good interpersonal skills that would serve him well both in and upon completion of the program. 

George was placed at Auto Value Service Center in Sandusky, Michigan, to be a Mechanic Trainee. At George’s mid-way evaluation, we learned that George was excelling in all areas. George then continued to work hard and complete the rest of the hours of his placement.  Because he was such an outstanding employee while on the program, he was offered full-time continued employment with Auto Value.

George was a great example of the purpose of the Young Professionals program.  Allowing youth to be placed in a work experience to gain the skills required for the job, while displaying outstanding work ethic and willingness to learn.  Auto Value in Sandusky is happy for the opportunity to bring a new, young employee on and train them from the ground up.
