Driven by a Passion for Helping Others

After working in both the HVAC and food industries, Amanda knew she was ready for a change. With a natural sense of empathy and a desire to help others, she was motivated to pursue a career that would allow her to make a difference in her community.

Amanda connected with GST Michigan Works!, where she received support through tuition assistance, mileage reimbursement, and uniforms to enroll in the Medical Assistant program at Ross Medical Education Center.

As she neared the end of her training and prepared for her externship, Amanda faced a major challenge when her child became ill. Balancing family responsibilities with school was difficult, but the financial assistance she received, particularly the mileage reimbursement, helped ease the burden and allowed her to stay focused on her goals.

Despite being laid off from her previous job, Amanda saw that moment as a chance to move her life and career in a new direction. She completed her program, earned her Certificate of Completion as a Medical Assistant, and secured employment with McLaren Healthcare within a few weeks of graduating.

Amanda’s determination, combined with the support from GST Michigan Works!, helped her transition into a stable, meaningful career that reflects her strengths and passion for helping others.
