A Career Built for the Long Haul

Theodore first came to GST Michigan Works! in January of 2025 seeking a path toward a more stable and long‑term career. At the time, he was working full‑time at O’Reilly Auto Repair, but he knew he wanted a career with opportunities for advancement and the ability to someday retire comfortably.

While exploring CDL‑A training options that could fit around his work schedule, Theodore enrolled in the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) program. As his career goals became clearer, he transitioned into the WIOA Out‑of‑School Youth program and made the decision to attend US Truck Driving School in August. He completed the program, earning both his CDL‑A license and his hazmat endorsement.

Theodore received comprehensive support throughout his journey—including assistance with tuition, mileage, auto repairs, and essential work equipment.

In November, his hard work paid off when he secured full‑time employment with Cassens Transport. The position came with a $4.00 hourly increase, health insurance, vacation benefits, and a pension—exactly the kind of stable, long‑term career he had been striving for! 

Theodore shared that he is incredibly thankful for everything GST Michigan Works! did to support him in achieving a fantastic job and launching a promising career.
