GCI & GST are bringing an In-Demand Career Fair to Genesee County
The career fair will take place in Flint at the Genesee Career Institute (GCI), more than 30 employers are expected to attend.
Flint, Mich. – GST MI Works! is driving Flint and the surrounding areas forward by engaging the leaders of tomorrow. While thousands of high school seniors are preparing to graduate from across the County, many of them are being trained in careers that they strive to advance in. The skills and certifications that they have acquired via their training at GCI, will give them an advantage in securing a job after graduation.
Employers are prepared to interview on the spot; this is a three-day event. On Tuesday, April 25th, GST, and GCI will host Union Construction and Advanced Manufacturing. On Wednesday, April 26th, Non-Union Construction and Transportation employers will be there and on April 27th, employers from Healthcare and Culinary will be available. High school seniors will attend the fair in the morning and in the afternoon, the job fair will be open to the public from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
“The Genesee Career Institute’s purpose is to ensure our students are prepared to become highly effective employees and future employers,” said Jason Carlisle, Assistant Principal for GCI. “We know employers are always looking for the best and brightest talent and my hope is to remove barriers that prevent our students from having the ability to present themselves and their skills for employment and to connect very busy employers with those looking to begin their professional future. For the employers, I’m very excited that they have the opportunity to connect with students just exiting high school, that could push their organization forward in a positive manner for many years to come.”

This event is about connecting employers with potential employees and getting people hired. “The goal of GST’s collaboration with Genesee Career Institute on this job fair is to allow high school seniors and community members to connect with hiring businesses while simultaneously addressing the recruitment needs of hiring companies, said Wanda Bigelow, Apprenticeship Manager at GST MI Works! “Anyone attending will have the chance to network professionally and discuss potential job opportunities at this event.”
The Genesee Career Institute (GCI) provides instruction and realistic learning in many career areas that help prepare Genesee County students for immediate entry into the workforce, upon completion of high school and the GCI program. GST Michigan Works! is one of sixteen (16) Michigan Works! agencies across the State of Michigan operating workforce development programs designed to assist employers with finding skilled workers and to help job seekers prepare for, find, and retain employment.
