Working With Partners Brings More Opportunities
Shiawassee County – From the outside, Sakor Technologies in Owosso is a very unassuming business. The company is small, employing ten (10) people in a average-looking facility. What they do, however, is amazing. They make dynamometers. Machinery that reduces friction and tests energy loss. Some rotate at hundreds of thousands of RPMs and another will have one revolution per year. Sakor works in the military, industrial, manufacturing, EV, and aerospace industries. Their products are custom-made, many of which are one of a kind, and sold globally.
Since Sakor has been involved in the EV industry for many years, they can apply for funding through the Global Epicenter of Mobility (GEM) program and other GST Michigan Works! programs. Sakor is starting to take advantage of training dollars through the WIOA-funded On-the-Job-Training (OJT) program and will be applying for the 2024 Cycle 2 Going Pro Talent Fund.
Sakor is also working with other partners like Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Veteran Employment Services. This has afforded them access to veterans with the skills to fill their openings, requiring only minor training that can be offered through the On-the-Job Training program at GST Michigan Works!. By combining resources from several agencies working together, Sakor is filling their talent needs.
