Earning a CDL-A to Power an Electrical Career Forward

Luke was working as an Apprentice Electrician at Zimmerman & Sons Electric, LLC, but needed a CDL-A license to take on additional responsibilities and earn a higher wage. He came to GST Michigan Works! seeking assistance and was determined to complete the training as quickly as possible.

With support through grant funding, Luke began his CDL-A training at Thumb CDL at the end of January. While continuing to work full time during the day, he committed to attending classes and driving practice at night and on weekends.

His hard work paid off—Luke successfully completed his training in March, earned his CDL-A license, and has now received a pay increase at work by taking on more advanced duties.
