GST Michigan Works! Helps Mother Land Her Dream Career

Jennifer Sroka is a mother who was working part-time at Thumb Area Correctional Food Services making $10/hr. She had worked as a CNA in the past as well as running a daycare while her child was younger because her husband works full-time. She decided a career change was in order and wanted to go back to what she loves – working with the elderly and being a caregiver.

Jennifer qualified for WIOA and started CNA training at Great Lakes Medical Training in Caseville. We were able to assist her with tuition, testing costs and supportive services such as: scrubs for clinicals, nursing shoes, blood pressure cuff, gait belt, mileage, and more.

After taking the CNA State Certification test, passing both clinicals and the written exam on the first try, she now works full-time at Courtney Manor earning $13.20/hr. with benefits after 90 days!
