Finding a New Road to Success

Douglas first visited GST Michigan Works! in November of 2024 to file for unemployment after Cygnus Home Services/Schwan’s, where he had worked since 2001, closed its doors. While at GST Michigan Works!, Douglas shared his goal of earning a CDL-A license to begin a new chapter in his career.

Through enrollment in the Dislocated Worker program, Douglas received funding support and began training at Thumb CDL. He excelled, completing his CDL-A training in a record six weeks’ time!

Within a month of finishing his training, Douglas was hired full-time at Veriha Trucking, with benefits included. Today, Douglas is happily traveling the country, building a successful and rewarding new career in trucking.
