Bright Future Ahead!

Huron County – Alicia came into the Huron County office of GST Michigan Works! in January, asking about funding in the medical field.  She hadn’t worked in a while and was ready to return to the workforce. She was interested in pursuing a career as a Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant and was having a hard time deciding between the two options. 

After determining that she was eligible for funding, she decided to enroll in the Certified Medical Assistant Course at the Tuscola Technical Center in Caro. By choosing this training, she would be learning all about phlebotomy and how to be a Medical Assistant, not only satisfying both of her interests but also making her more employable and versatile when seeking work.

GST Michigan Works! was able to assist Alicia with funding for tuition, books, mileage, scrubs, and a stethoscope/blood pressure kit.

Alicia excelled at the training and completed her class with outstanding grades on June 14th!  She wasted no time, as she also took the NHA exam and passed it on June 27th.  

Alicia was so motivated, she was able to find employment before her class ended. She started working at Hills & Dales Hospital in Cass City as a Certified Medical Assistant on June 7th. She is excited about where her path will lead her in the future!
